New Process for Firearm purchases currently in effect thru December 31, 2023

$18 Background Check Fee Waived

All background checks will a $18 fee as required by WA State law starting January 1, 2024, but is waived through December 31, 2023. (This fee is per background check, not per firearm and does not apply to pawn redemptions)

Waiting Period based on background check results

For Semi-Auto rifles there is still the mandatory 10 business day waiting period. All other firearms will have to wait to be transferred until the background check is completed and a proceed is received including long guns such as shotguns. This is determined by the Washington State Patrol's new SAFE system.

Proof of Certified Firearms Safety Training Course Waived

All firearm purchases will need to provide proof of a qualified firearms safety class within the last 5 years starting January 1, 2024 but is currently waived until the end of the year. Click here to go to the free online course we recommend and have it ready for the new year!

Mandatory 10 Business Day Waiting Period

All firearms, whether they are a shotgun, a handgun, a pawn or a purchase will have to wait 10 COMPLETE business days before being released. This does not count the date of purchase, the 10th day, weekends or holidays.

Our Firearms Transfer Fees effective October 1st, 2023

Long Guns

For ALL firearms requirements include:



  • WA State Background check
  • Up to a 30-business day waiting period


Handguns

$40  transfer fee PER BACKGROUND CHECK

($10 additional fee per firearm processed on a single background check.)

Private Party Transfers

$40 fee per check

For WA state required private party transfers that transfer a firearm from one person to another.


This applies to all types regardless of the length or type of background check.


(For any delays in transferring of the firearm the seller retains possession of the firearm until the buyer has been contacted that the background check has been approved and may be completed.)

We reserve the right to refuse any incoming FFL transfer.

  • Any transfer received that is unable to be processed due to Washington State firearms laws will need to be returned to the shipper.
  • The buyer/transferee will still be required to pay for our transfer fee, plus will be responsible to contact the shipper, arrange for the return shipping and will need to pay for any shipping fees required to return the firearm back to the shipper.
  • After 1 week from date of arrival, a daily storage fee of $10 per firearm may incur until the firearm(s) are processed for return.
  • After 30 days, if the firearm is still at the Gold Nugget, it will be considered abandoned, and the Gold Nugget will take appropriate action to dispose of the firearm according to current laws and legislation.

YOU NEED

to know about buying a firearm in Washington State:

ALL Handguns require:

  • Purchaser to be 21+ & a WA resident for 90 days or more with current WA id.
  • a Federal & State background check performed by local law enforcement
  • a Mandatory  hold (not including weekends or federal holidays) until local law enforcement processes the background check


(Sorry but your Concealed Pistol License "CPL" is now just a license to carry concealed & does not allow for same day handgun transactions)

ALL other firearms, including shotguns, NON-Semi-Auto rifles, receivers and frames require:

  • a Federal & State background check performed by local law enforcement
  • Purchaser to be 21+ & a WA resident for 90 days or more with WA id for lower receivers , frames and pistol grip shotguns.
  • a Potential hold up to 10 business days (not including weekends or federal holidays) based on the results of the background check
